Ronco Del Gelso - Isonzo – Traminer Passito “AUR” - IGT Delle Venezie – 2011

MOP$442.00

The Badin Family has been running this wine estate for generations in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of North East Italy. The vineyards are located between the mountains and the sea where the climate is mild, the soil is dry and rich and the growing season is long.

The harvest is delayed for as long as possible that the Pinot Grigio grapes, loose water and weight while on the vine when ripe, which concentrates the fruity notes. The alcohol content is always high, but never burning, and confers sweetness in conjunction with the prominent fruit.

Melding tradition with technology. The vines are cared for and grape picked by hand in the traditional way, but in the cellars are treated with modern technology, thus resulting in carefully crafted wines.

Tasting Notes:

A brilliant deep gold dessert wine, with a creamy nose showing refined spice, mango and a basket of tropical fruit. Lifted honey floral, almondy aroma, unctuous sweet peach, lemon rice palate. Candied sweetness flecks lift from balanced acidity.  Lush, concentrated palate exuding superb tropical scents similar to the nose. Lively, very persistent with a incredibly rich and long marzipan finish.

Grape:

Gewurztraminer

Serving suggestions:

Room temperature.

Pairings:

An excellent accompaniment to soft cheeses and goat’scheese and is also very good with foie gras and sweet fruit based desserts.
