Don't be afraid of its fearsome looks and potential lethality, once prepared and the venom is cleaned off the spines, this rare fish is delectable.

Hailing from the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, and considered one of the deadliest fish in the waters, our Red Adriatic Scorpion fish are line caught to minimise over fishing.

Once thrown back into the seas as waste, this fish has had some what of a revival in high end restaurants where it is typically served up fried.

It has an interesting and yet unusual taste and texture. It’s very tender and the flavour falls somewhere between red snapper and shellfish such as lobster or crab. 

 

Cooking tips

These fillets are great for shallow frying, simply lightly dust with flour and cook on high heat for 3-4 minutes per side. Alternatively for that true gastropub experience it can be deep fried.
